Privacy

Privacy continues to be eroded as more devices connect to the internet and share your data without your knowledge or consent. Whether it’s data generated about you by your devices, or data collected about you from public surveillance devices, we at the Consumer Control Project believe that people have a reasonable expectation of privacy and anonymity, and should be afforded the opportunity to opt out of any and all data collection and transmission if desired.

Furthermore, manufacturers should not be allowed to retaliate against these choices by artificially limiting the functionality of the product as a result, or by grouping unrelated data options together to strongarm the user into keeping more data collection on than they desire (e.g. WhatsApp requires full access to your contacts before you are allowed to make a video call).
